It has been ten months since we began this website. Our initial and primary goal has been to move the organization of Jehovah’s Witnesses from a two hope, earth-dominated organization to a one hope, spirit-led brotherhood. And we have accomplished much in this regard, as hundred of brothers and sisters are waking up to their true relationship with God, namely as sons and daughters of the Father in the heavens, with a heavenly hope.
However, the increase in new sons of the kingdom and in the interest in the heavenly hope has grown exponentially ever since the Governing Body came forward with the ‘new light’ as to the identity of the Faithful and Discreet Slave mentioned at Matthew 24:45-47. Now, more and more of our brothers and sisters have stepped forward out of the shadows and ‘into God’s wonderful light!’ (1 Peter 2:9) We are proud of these courageous men and women who have picked up their torture stakes and cast their lot in with the Christ. (Matthew 16:24) This is not easy to do when you are surrounded by people you love who simply cannot understand the heavenly call and are fearful that you have somehow become disapproved.
What has surprised us the most is the poor understanding of our ministry by ex-Witnesses. They seem to think we are trying to bolster and prop up a defective organization, when, in fact, our intent is to heal a brotherhood. It is easy to say that all who realize that the two-hope teaching is an error should leave the organization. But it is extremely difficult in practice, as these very ones demonstrate. Though many left the organization several years ago, some decades ago, a large number still hang on to every word written by the Society, and every development within the association. Their conversations are dominated with stories, very true stories, of how they were harmed by their association with Jehovah’s Witnesses and how eager they are to see its downfall. Their feet may have left, but their hearts and their emotions remain behind like a jilted lover who simply cannot find closure. We do not mean to minimize their struggle, but we want to emphasize that simply leaving the organization has not healed them. Something more is needed. We believe that ‘something more’ is the true, authentic, actual, open and plain teachings of Jesus Christ, not only for them, but for the Governing Body, and all those who remain in the organization. Only then can a true healing take place.
We are also mindful of the thousands of brothers and sisters in the Worldwide Order of Jehovah’s Witnesses – those in special full-time service, such as traveling overseers, Bethelites, and missionaries – who dedicate their lives full time to the preaching and teaching work. They take a vow of poverty and of submission to the direction of the Governing Body, and in return, the Society provides them with housing, sustenance, transportation, vacations, health insurance, and other necessities. These men and women are among the brightest spiritual minds in our association. And we are certain that they know the things we publish on this site are true. In fact, we have personally heard from a few who appreciate our work and are waiting to see what develops.
But walking away from the organization, if they wanted to, is even harder for such ones. They would not only leave their hearts behind, but they would jeopardize their livelihood and their ability to support themselves. There simply is not a demand for preachers and teachers in the compensable employment market. And many are up in age and in dire need of their health insurance. Our brothers and sisters in the Worldwide Order can only hope and pray for a change; they cannot openly seek it. It is a unique and special individual who will challenge the direction of the Governing Body and thereby risk their livelihood.
Instead, they do what they can do to console, comfort and support our brothers and sisters who feel depressed, confused and uninspired due to the lack of a real and true relationship with the Father. But imagine the effect on our organization if these brilliant special servants were able to openly preach and teach about sonship with God and the pursuit of the kingdom of the heavens! Imagine the influx of sons and daughters to the Father around the world! Think of how you are affected by the true kingdom message and imagine that practically every person who hears your message responds similarly and takes on the mantle of ambassadorship for Christ! This association that we have grown to love can be transformed and be a real asset to the Father, the Christ and the world!
So it is up to the local brothers and sisters to effect change. And not in a way that will destroy our association, but in a way that will heal it. The change that is needed can only be effected by a movement from the bottom up, from the brothers and sisters on the local level. By accepting their sonship with God, and making public declaration of their hope (Hebrews 10:23), the Governing Body will no longer be able to ignore the obvious working of Holy Spirit. They will be forced to reckon with the reality of the heavenly hope and swing wide the doors to the Kingdom that they have so jealously guarded over the decades. So let’s look at the progress we have made thus far in that direction.
We began with a simple message that we are ‘all sons of God through our faith in Christ Jesus.’ (Galatians 3:26) We published over 30 articles, supported by abundant scriptural references, confirming that this is the true good news of the kingdom. A few of the articles were a verse-by-verse consideration of the books of Romans, 1 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, and Colossians. We also published a series of articles showing the futility of the earthly hope entitled The Cherished Earthly Hope, followed by an uplifting series on the heavenly hope entitled The Glorious Heavenly Hope. The success of these articles led us to publish two additional articles we refer to as Heavenly Contemplations - Part II and Heavenly Contemplations - Part III. These articles reached the hearts of so many within our association, as well as thousands who are in association with other religious groups.
Additionally, we wrote weekly letters to the Writing Department and the Governing Body asking them to re-examine the earthly hope and, if we are incorrect, to let us know. We heard no word from either group until the October 2012 Annual Meeting where the so-called ‘new light’ about the true identity of the Faithful and Discreet Slave was first expressed. Many view this revelation as a response to our website, though we have no direct confirmation of that assumption.
The surface message of the purported ‘new light’ is that the only ones authorized to provide spiritual and scriptural information to Jehovah’s Witnesses is the 8-member Governing Body. The implication is that we, at , should cease the operation of this website and submit to the status quo of two hopes.
Of course, the Spirit of the Father does not work that way. Holy Spirit is not subject to the whims and wishes of men. Holy Spirit always acts in a forward and positive way, always promoting the Father, the Christ and their eternal purpose. (John 16:13-14) To deny or resist Holy Spirit is to grieve it, which we are specifically counseled against. (Ephesians 4:30) We are further told that any who taste the heavenly gift and then turn their back on it may lose the ability to accept forgiveness. (Hebrews 6:4-6) So, like the first century Christians, ‘there was no way that we can stop speaking about the things we have seen and heard.’ (Acts 4:18-20)
Knowing, however, that many of our brothers were distressed at the apparent power grab and assumed demotion of all anointed Christians, we published an article Love Hopes All Things with the goal of assuaging the discontent until further information is received. We received numerous emails expressing appreciation and confirming that the article did what it was intended to do.
While waiting for further information from the Governing Body about the latest ‘new light,’ we wrote an article that examined whether there was a first century governing body that set a precedent for the modern day Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The examination led to the conclusion that there was not, which led to the article The Governing Body Myth. The article is not intended to attack the modern day Governing Body. It is intended to set them in their proper place, not as a divinely appointed body who determines how we worship and intervenes for us with Christ, but as a manmade body that oversees the administrative aspects of an international organization of preachers and teachers.
(2 Corinthians 1:24)
After getting more details about the so-called ‘new light,’ specifically that the authority of the Governing Body is based on the idea that Jesus always fed the many by the hands of the few, we published another article Feeding the Many. This article examined how, in fact, the preaching and teaching of the Christian congregation was started and conducted. The examination revealed that in the beginning, there were only a few feeding the flock. But Jesus exhorted his followers to pray for many workers in the harvest. (Matthew 9:37-38) Yes, Jesus intended that there be many hands to feed his many disciples.
Finally, the Governing Body posted on their official website its notes on the 2012 Annual Meeting entitled Annual Meeting Report, “Food at the Proper Time.” Here we learned, without question, that the Governing Body realizes that the ‘little flock’ (Luke 12:32) and the ‘other sheep’ (John 10:16) are all ‘domestics,’ that is, members of the ‘household of God.’ (Ephesians 2:19) Whether these governing brothers realized it or not, the Spirit led them to publish that we are indeed one flock, with one Lord, and one Father, and thus have one hope, the heavenly one. (Ephesians 4:4-6) There is no other logical way to look at this ‘new light.’
Every honest hearted person who looks at the Christian Greek Scriptures without the ‘veil of the Mosaic Law’ (2 Corinthians 3:12-18) will see that the Father wants all of us to reach out for the upward call. (Philippians 3:14) Paul explained that if we are not doing so, we should pray to the Father so that He can readjust our misled minds. (Philippians 3:14-15)
So brothers, we have reached our first benchmark. Our leadership has acknowledged the oneness of our hope, and thus our sonship with the Father, and the brotherhood of each of us with each other and with the Christ. (Galatians 3:26; Ephesians 4:4-6; Romans 8:14-17) Now it is up to us individually to stay the course and stand up for each other, and for our brothers and sisters in the special full-time service who are at a decided disadvantage in publicly standing up for the Kingdom of the Heavens.
We are absolutely confident that it is the Father’s will that our organization wake up to the true hope for mankind and be at the forefront of publishing the true good news of the Kingdom. Yet we are ever mindful of the divine gift of free will that we all are given, including the members of the Governing Body. They have the freedom to follow the Spirit’s obvious manifestation or to resist it. We hope they choose to follow it. And what can move them to see the Spirit’s work is by the courageous acts of our local brothers and sisters in publicly declaring their hope, without wavering.
Let us keep our minds fixed on the things above (Colossians 3:2; Romans 8:6-8), the heavenly things, and not turn back to the weak, beggarly and elementary doctrines of an earthly hope. (Galatians 4:9) We, for our part, will continue providing upbuilding scriptural and spiritual information for as long as the Spirit allows. And we look forward to publishing another update in a few months that will show continued progress toward a one-hope spirit led brotherhood of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Peace to all.
