FEARLESS SONS OF THE KINGDOM
April 5, 2013
To all who participated in this year’s Memorial Supper, Greetings you Fearless Sons of the Kingdom and welcome to the spiritual brotherhood of the Christ! Your names have been registered in the heavens and you are now citizens of the vast universe – the universe of universes, the heaven of heavens!
By openly confessing the Christ, you are storing up for yourselves “treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes, and where thieves do not break in and steal.” (Matthew 6:20) The only way to lose access to your heavenly treasure is if you abandon it and return to “the weak and beggarly elementary things and want to slave for them over again.” (Galatians 4:9) Never may that happen! Instead, take Paul’s counsel:
“Give orders to those who are rich in the present system of things not to be high-minded, and to rest their hope, not on uncertain riches, but on God, who furnishes us all things richly for our enjoyment; to work at good, to be rich in fine works, to be liberal, ready to share, safely treasuring up for themselves a fine foundation for the future, in order that they may get a firm hold on the real life.”
– 1 Timothy 6:17-19
Your partaking with the Christ is your guarantee of gaining the real life, the everlasting inheritance, eternal salvation. Like Jesus, you now have life in yourselves:
“Accordingly Jesus said to them: “Most truly I say to you, Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in yourselves. He that feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has everlasting life, and I shall resurrect him at the last day.”
– John 6:53-54
And no one can change that or snatch your hope away:
“What my Father has given me is something greater than all other things, and no one can snatch them out of the hand of the Father.”
– John 10:29
In addition to your guarantee, you also have insurance. Your spiritual brotherhood is your insurance against all manner of calamity. An insurance policy does not protect you from calamity, but should calamity strike, you are ‘covered.’ Likewise, the spiritual brotherhood is your ‘cover,’ your ‘compensation,’ that which makes the adversities easier to bear. Those who partook with you are those who will stick “closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24), those who will ‘stick with you through your trials.’ (Luke 22:28) No machination of man can dissolve this bond as long as we stay close to the Father, close to the Christ and close to each other.
Remember Jesus’ words to those who forsook everything and followed him:
“Truly I say to you, There is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God who will not in any way get many times more in this period of time, and in the coming system of things everlasting life.”
– Luke 18:29-30
We need to keep this fact in mind, especially those who serve in congregations where the heavenly hope and sonship are not well received. Such faithful brothers and sisters may find themselves subject to unfair scrutiny, criticism and discipline, and may even lose the association of family and friends, as occurred in the first century:
“His parents said these things because they were in fear of the Jews, for the Jews had already come to an agreement that, if anyone confessed him as Christ, he should get expelled from the synagogue.”
– John 9:22
“All the same, many even of the rulers actually put faith in him, but because of the Pharisees they would not confess [him], in order not to be expelled from the synagogue; for they loved the glory of men more than even the glory of God.”
– John 12:42-43
Should expulsion from the congregation occur, you will still have your spiritual brotherhood. No man has authority or the ability to sever your relationship with the Father; therefore, no one can sever your relationship with your spiritual brothers – the children of the Father.
To those who partook alone though you were in a crowd of people, you have found special favor with the Father. Your courage did not go unnoticed. Not only did you partake in the very presence of the Christ, but you partook with the Christ. He saw you! He also saw all those around you who let ignorance and the fear of men dictate their relationship with God. There are tremendous blessings in store for all those who demonstrate faith under such trying circumstances. But you brothers, all the more so, need to find or develop your fellowship. You need the association of brothers of like minds:
“And let us consider one another to incite to love and fine works, not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as you behold the day drawing near.”
– Hebrews 10:24-25
During the past year, we focused on our sonship with God. We published several articles that amplify the clear message that is woven throughout the Christian Greek Scriptures that ‘we are all sons of God through our faith in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:26) This year we will focus on how to develop a fellowship, how to expand the borders of the spiritual brotherhood, and how to increase the Master’s belongings. (Matthew 25:14-30) We will also be looking for experiences of how others are working to develop and expand the brotherhood.
Sadly, some of our brothers and sisters allowed the fear of men to prevent them from having a sharing with the Christ. To those brothers, we say to you as Paul said to Timothy:
“O Timothy, guard what is laid up in trust with you, turning away from the empty speeches that violate what is holy and from the contradictions of the falsely called “knowledge.” For making a show of such [knowledge] some have deviated from the faith. May the undeserved kindness be with you people.”
– 1 Timothy 6:20-21
Do not be among those who allow the sophistry of men to cause you to deviate from the plain and open teachings of Jesus and lose out on ‘the real life.’ We want you to know that the entire association of spiritual brothers and sisters are here for you. Many of them suffered from the same affliction, but found a way to push beyond the flesh to the spirit. Feel free to approach any of them and discuss your concerns, and allow the Spirit of Truth to correct your thinking and adjust your mental attitude, as Paul suggested:
“Not that I have already received it or am already made perfect, but I am pursuing to see if I may also lay hold on that for which I have also been laid hold on by Christ Jesus. Brothers, I do not yet consider myself as having laid hold on [it]; but there is one thing about it: Forgetting the things behind and stretching forward to the things ahead, I am pursuing down toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God by means of Christ Jesus. Let us, then, as many of us as are mature, be of this mental attitude; and if you are mentally inclined otherwise in any respect, God will reveal the above [attitude] to you. At any rate, to what extent we have made progress, let us go on walking orderly in this same routine.”
– Philippians 3:12-16
In keeping with Paul’s advice to ‘forget the things behind,’ we encourage you to forget your lapse into fear and press forward. And if you are so inclined, you may want to get together with other sons of the Kingdom and have a private Memorial Supper now. There is no need to wait for the annual commemoration to confess your union with Christ. As Paul said, ‘as often as you meet together’ you can share in a Memorial Supper. (1 Corinthians 11:25-26) In fact, regularly getting together to share a meal and sup with Christ should be a part of your worshipful service. It will serve to strengthen the bond of the spiritual brotherhood and keep your minds fixed on the things above. (Colossians 3:2)
So this year, to the sons of the Kingdom, the aliens and temporary residents on earth, the ambassadors substituting for Christ, we encourage you as did Paul:
“I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is destined to judge the living and the dead, and by his manifestation and his kingdom, preach the word, be at it urgently in favorable season, in troublesome season, reprove, reprimand, exhort, with all long-suffering and [art of] teaching. For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do [the] work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.”
– 2 Timothy 4:1-5
The entire spirit family of divine angelic beings will be supporting all of us. They, too, have a great interest in the work of spreading the Master’s teachings worldwide. (Revelation 1:1,20; see also, Revelation, chapters 2 and 3)
We look forward to a great increase in the spiritual brotherhood, and a lively spiritual interchange of encouragement. May the Father of All bless all of our efforts in all that we do in honor of Him and His Christ.
We welcome your comments.
