May 25, 2014

At the beginning of this year, we proclaimed 2014 as “The Father’s Acceptable Year,” the year that man will begin awakening en masse from his centuries-long stupor and come to realize the plain and open teaching of Jesus that we are all sons of God and heirs to the Heavenly Kingdom. (Romans 8:16-17) It is a re-statement and a re-proclamation of the Christian Jubilee that Jesus instituted in the 1st century A.D. (Luke 4:18-20) and continues into the future down to our day until all mankind realizes we are free.

Modern man is pulling against the chains of domination and suppression by authoritative religious organizations, and by so doing, he is stimulating the Spirit of Truth to bear witness with his own spirit that he is indeed already free, already a citizen of the heavenly kingdom, and already a member of the household of God. As we gain our spiritual dignity, we will learn religious self-governance and we will no longer need anyone to be teaching us, for we will all know God intimately from our hearts. (Hebrews 8:11)

We saw this awakening manifest at the 2014 Memorial Supper where over 8.7 million people from all walks of life, from various Christian denominations, joined together in one united voice, confessing union with our Sovereign Lord Christ Jesus by partaking in the Supper as faith sons of our Grand Universal Father. This event is unprecedented in the history of our planet!

We also stated that 2014 will have a profound effect on Jehovah’s Witnesses in a way they had not anticipated. Some will not fare well. But many, who pick up the mantle of sonship, will experience marvelously unexpected occurrences and begin having a taste of the real life. (1 Timothy 6:19) These faithful men and women will have an opportunity to be the foundation stones of a new nation of Christians who practice the religion Jesus’ practiced, and who worship the Father in the way Jesus worshiped the Father. They will usher in a new era of enlightenment that will reach the hearts and minds of the vast majority of the world’s inhabitants and collectively they will ‘bring heaven down’ so that God’s will is done on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:9-10)

But first, much work must be done within the organization. We are reminded of one of Jesus’ illustrations that is quite on point for this situation:

“Then he went on to tell this illustration: ‘A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came looking for fruit on it but found none. Then he said to the vinedresser, ‘Here it is three years that I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, but have found none. Cut it down! Why should it keep the ground useless?’”                       – Luke 13:6-7

After over 100 years of preaching and teaching, one would expect the Watchtower organization to have produced significantly more than 8 million Witnesses, and only about 13,000 sons of God. This is a disappointing harvest for a people who are so zealous and self-sacrificing. In 2013, they spent nearly 2 billion hours in the preaching work, but were only able to baptize 277,344 disciples.  When the numbers are averaged out, it means that they spent 18 hours a day, 7 days a week for an entire year to make one disciple! Something is definitely wrong! When the message was preached in the 1st century, it often took no more than one or two clear and concise discourses to convince people to become a follower of Christ Jesus. And this ministry which re-introduces the plain and open teachings of Jesus, as taught in the 1st century, produced over 8.7 million sons of God within our first 2 years! Clearly, Jehovah’s Witnesses are not a productive tree. But it does not have to be cut down.  The illustration continues:

“In reply he said to him, ‘Master, leave it alone for one more year until I dig around it and put on manure. If it produces fruit in the future, well and good; but if not, then cut it down.’” – Luke 13:8-9

In harmony with this illustration, we gladly volunteered for the role of ‘vinedressers’ for the Watchtower organization. We offered to provide food to enrich the soil, to dig as deep as necessary to pull away the weeds (the pretenders), to lop off false doctrines, to prune burdensome restrictions, and to do what we can to prepare the tree to be able to receive the life-giving waters of the Spirit of Truth. From the beginning of this ministry, we offered ourselves to the Governing Body to share our thoughts on how such a cultivation and spiritualization of the Watchtower organization can be accomplished.  Our efforts were met with silence by the Governing Body, but many of the brothers and sisters in the local congregations were intrigued. So even though our ministry to the Governing Body did not cause them to produce fruit, our ministry to the local brothers and sisters was quite productive as recounted in the article, Kingdom Update - April 2014.

Accordingly, now one full month after the 2014 Memorial Supper, we thought it might be beneficial to share with our brothers and sisters worldwide our plan for reformation and how real, beneficial and lasting change can take place –  change that can be a model for other religious organizations who likewise want to align themselves with the authentic teachings of Jesus. Perhaps by doing so, the brothers taking the lead will see that change is not so difficult, that it is achievable in our lifetime, and that change is far better than being “cut down.” And perhaps they will find a way to turn back the disappointment of the Most High and save themselves and those who listen to them.

Since the Governing Body has not yet expressed an interest in our suggestions, it will require that a large number of individual Jehovah’s Witnesses take a look at the plan and become full participants, willing to give their all to effect such a positive change. We believe our local brothers, former and current servants who understand the plain and open teachings, and maybe some Bethelites with insight into how the organization is run, may find a way to bring about these changes with or without the support of the soon-to-be defunct Governing Body.

So please take this journey with us into the Possibilities for a new energized and truly spirit-directed little nation that currently calls themselves “Jehovah’s Witnesses.” And we encourage any other religious organization who sees any value in these suggestions to feel free to use them as they see fit.

As always, we welcome your comments, suggestions and critiques of these Possibilities as we proceed through this Acceptable Year – the new beginning of the Christian Jubilee –  in expectation of the unexpected!
