Article 4: Hear Jehovah’s Voice Wherever You Are

October 29, 2014 - Los Angeles, California, USA

Sorry, I’m late with this, but like the brother or sister in Boston, I, too was shocked to see that Jesus did not make the list of the ways Jehovah speaks to his people today.  The Watchtower only identified three ways, the Bible, his holy spirit and the congregation.  I’m glad the Boston person brought up the scripture at Hebrews 1:1. How could they forget this important scripture!

Then in the next paragraph (2) it says that “in effect” Jesus conveys Jehovah’s voice through the faithful and discreet slave.  What about the spirit of truth? Didn’t Jesus say that the spirit of truth would speak what Jesus wanted to be told?

“However, when that one comes, the spirit of the truth, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak of his own initiative, but what he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things to come. That one will glorify me, because he will receive from what is mine and will declare it to you. All the things that the Father has are mine. That is why I said he receives from what is mine and declares it to you.” John 16:13,14,15.

Maybe the GB thinks the spirit of truth speaks through them.  If so, why don’t they ever mention this? Why don’t they ever give any recognition to Jesus?  I really hate the way the GB ignores Jesus and the spirit of truth, and only gives them token mention, like paragraph 2 that “in effect” Jesus speaks.

And why do the Watchtowers always say that we need to follow the Bible, because if we follow what the Bible says, we would all have the heavenly hope?  And if there is a discrepancy between the Watchtower and the Bible, we should follow what the Bible says. Like in paragraph 6, the Watchtower points to how when Jesus was tempted by Satan, he used the Bible as his authority.  Today, if I dare use the Bible as an authority to show why I want to partake, they will label me an apostate.  I have friends that privately partake because they are afraid that the elders will disfellowship them if they believe the Bible instead of current truths from the Watchtower.

I’m really confused at what the GB wants us to do.  Do they want us to believe the Bible and follow Jesus or do they want us to believe the Watchtower and follow them. This Watchtower doesn’t help at all. It just adds to the confusion, like they have schizophrenia or something. Sometimes its just better to stay numb and go through the motions.  I’m really sad right now.

Anyway that’s what I wanted to say.

October 25, 2014 - Boston, Massachusetts USA

Lu. 9:35  Then a voice came out of the cloud saying: “This is my son, the one who has been chosen. Listen to him.”

Par. 2 The first sentence list three ways Jehovah communicates with his servants, Unfortunately Jesus Christ did not make the list! Later in the paragraph he is mentioned as communicating but only through “the faithful and discreet slave.”

We do well to keep in mind the apostle Paul’s words at Heb. 1:1 “Long ago God spoke to our forefathers by means of the prophets on many occasions and in many ways. 2 Now at the end of these days he has spoken to us by means of a Son, whom he appointed heir of all thing, and through whom he made the systems of things.”

Par. 15 Although the references to Jesus are meager in the article as a whole, this paragraph stands as an example of what we hope to see more of. The example of Jesus prayerful communication with the Father and his expressing support and approval of his son is what inspires us to confidently maintain close communication with the Father.

Par. 18  Concludes by saying: May we pray constantly, follow the leadings of holy spirit, and always listen closely to Jehovah’s voice.

Brothers by these words you are encouraging all Witnesses to accept their adoption as faith sons of our Father.  The apostle Paul said: “For all who are led by God’s spirit are indeed God’s sons.”   A consequence of following the leadings of holy spirit as you encourage is explained further by Paul. He continues: “For you did not receive a spirit of slavery causing fear again, but you received a spirit of adoption as sons, by which spirit we cry out: Abba, Father! The spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are God’s children. Romans 8:14-16.

May you continue to encourage the household of witnesses to follow the leadings of holy spirit. May this result in many more accepting their true, rightful station as faith sons of the ineffable Universal Father by becoming partakers of the body of Christ. Eph 3:6; Heb 3:14

Article 3: How Jehovah Draws Close to Us

October 21, 2014 - Boston, Massachusetts USA

This study article attempts to provide encouragement by describing the ways in which our Heavenly Father draws close to us. An opportunity has once again been lost by a failure to understand the full implications of what Jesus Christ has made possible for the individuals relationship with the Father.

Jesus mission was to provide more than simply deliverance from sin and death. He elevated the quality of relationship a human could have with the Father while still in the imperfect flesh.

Par. 9 The Bethel writers cite John 6:44 “No one comes to the Father except through me.” The paragraph continues: It is by means of holy spirit that Jehovah draws individuals to himself through Jesus and helps them to remain in His love with everlasting life in view.

If the context of that verse were considered the friends would have seen a wonderful way to draw close to God that the writers completely missed.  Notice what Jesus says it means to be drawn to the Father in these additional verses of John chapter 6.

35 Jesus said to them: “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will not get hungry at all, and whoever exercises faith in me will never get thirsty at all. 36 But as I said to you, you have even seen me and yet do not believe. 37  All those whom the Father gives me will come to me, and I will never drive away the one who comes to me; 38  for I have come down from heaven to do, not my own will, but the will of him who sent me. 39 This is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose none out of all those whom he has given me, but that I should resurrect them on the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who recognizes the Son and exercises faith in him should have everlasting life, and I will resurrect him on the last day.” 48 “I am the bread of life. 49 Your forefathers ate the manna in the wilderness and yet they died. 50This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that anyone may eat of it and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread he will live forever; and for a fact, the bread that I will give is my flesh in behalf of the life of the world.”

By Jesus own words it is evident that if a person is drawn by the Father they will become a partaker of Christ body. Once a person is part of the body of Christ they are intimately connected with the Father in a unique way that those not part of the body will never experience.  Why did the writers not take note of this fantastic and not to be missed offer of the Christ?

Par. 11 This paragraph touches on how to forge a friendship with God.  How delightfully inspiring it would have been to examine what Jesus and Paul had to say about forging “sonship” with God.

“However, I say to you: Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may prove yourselves sons of your Father who is in the heavens, since he makes his sun rise on both the wicked and the good and makes it rain on both the righteous and the unrighteous.” (Matthew 5:45)

“For all who are led by God’s spirit are indeed God’s sons.  For you did not receive a spirit of slavery causing fear again, but you received a spirit of adoption as sons, by which spirit we cry out: “Abba, Father!” (Romans 8:14,15)

“You are all, in fact, sons of God through your faith in Christ Jesus.” ( Gal. 3:26)

Who of us would exchange being a son of God for being just a friend of our Heavenly Father? This is part of the “sacred secret” that our elder brother Christ Jesus came to reveal.

The Jesus Christ is the liaison that makes possible this connection we are unable to make. No wonder he referred to himself as “the bread of life.” Why is it that so many of our brothers and sisters who so desperately want to connect with their heavenly Father allow men to prevent them from becoming partakers of Christ body, symbolized by partaking of the memorial supper?  It is only through this means one can allow the Father to draw close to them and become an honored son.

As a former elder, once I understood this my life took an upward turn for the good that never ceases yielding a bond with my Heavenly Father and my older brother Jesus Christ that is simply awesome!!!

I look forward to hearing other comments from those who are Awake at the Watchtower study.

Article 2:   Use the Word of God – It is Alive

November 3, 2014 – Rennes, France

In the first paragraph, it asks this question, "Can you imagine how you would feel if you had to stand before the most powerful ruler on earth and speak up in behalf of Jehovah’s people?”

This is an issue that does not make sense because: (1) Who today is the most powerful leader in the world? And (2) The Christian who would stand in front of this person should not speak on behalf of Jehovah's people, but he or she would speak in the name of Jesus.

The author of this article has forgotten that in the time of Jesus, the apostles also had to appear before the very senior leaders, but for a different reason – to defend the name of Jesus.

The Apostles, when they appeared before the leaders had nothing in their hands because nothing had yet been written. It is only with the Holy Spirit and with confidence that they could talk. It is the same today, if we believe what Christ said at Mark 13:11  “And when they are taking you to hand you over, do not be anxious beforehand about what to say; but whatever is given you in that hour, say this, for you are not the ones speaking, but the holy spirit is."

Article 1:   What is the Role of Women in Jehovah’s Purpose

October 5, 2014 - Boston, Massachusetts, USA

After reading this study article I was quite disappointed in seeing a fumbled, lost opportunity to raise the dignity of women by elaborating on Jesus example instead of the paltry comments found in paragraphs 15 - 17.

So that none of our readers will think I am just a fault finder I suggest that they do something I only recently did in regard to understanding women's role in God's arrangement.

I read carefully the two articles which appear on this website. They are entitled:The Spiritual Equality of Women and The Spiritual Equality of Women Part II.  As a male and former elder in various congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses for over two decades I thought I had accorded women in general and my wife in particular the honor which they deserved. However after reading these two articles and seeing the revolutionary example of Jesus it occurred to me that I still had a long way to go to meet up with the mind of Christ in this regard.

With this in mind, instead of my critiquing this study article may I encourage all who happen to see these comments to go directly to the two articles on this website and ponder them deeply.

I look forward to reading other comments of those who are awake at the Watchtower study.
